Listening to the Voice of God

Listening to the Voice of God

By Shirley Smith

Does God talk to His people? Yes, this book will explain how He uses His word (The Bible) and different things that take place in your life. . Shirley Smith has written the truth in this book about how God talks to His people. She shares stories of her experiences, nothing dramatic, just the simple and quiet way God talks to His people. This is an easy to read book and will not take long to read. The information in the book will be a blessing and will open your heart to hearing God.

I would recommend this book to new Christians and older believers as well; we can all use help in our walk with God. This book would be good for group discussions and for your own special time with the Lord.

The American Church: A Baby Church?

The American Church: A Baby Church?

By D. W. Glomski

Does the American church need a waking up? Yes, but is the things outlined in this book the answer? Does baby Christians attend the American church? Yes, there is a lot of Christian who would fill some of the baby ways described in this book. As for the author suggestions, some points he makes are good, but some points would never happen in America, because people are committed to following traditional things and they would not be willing to change. A few of the things that the author suggests to change would upset pastors and those who are in charge of the denominations. He offer a chapter to pastors trying to explain his ideas.

The American church needs to make changes and Christian will have to work at making them. The changes the author suggests are radical and are his opinions.

God Deserves Praise

God Deserves Praise

God often gets blamed when something goes wrong, but He seldom gets credit for all the things that go right. Every day people get up, get dressed, drive to work or school or the grocery store, and return safely to their families. No one knows how many times God has protected us from harm. But when there is a tragedy, we ask, “Where was God?”

When I consider all the wonderful things that God does silently on my behalf each day (Isaiah 25:1), I realize that my list of praises should be longer than my list of petitions.

Isaiah 25:1 – O Lord, I will honor and praise your name, for you are my God. You do such wonderful things! You planned them long ago, and now you have accomplished them.(NLT)

Sherlock Holmes and the Needle’s Eye

Sherlock Holmes and the Needle’s Eye: The World’s Greatest Detective Tackles the Bible’s Ultimate Mysteries by Len Bailey

I did not know what to expect when I ordered this book, but was a great experience. If you like mysteries, science fiction, and Bible stories you will enjoy reading this book. Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson are transported via a time machine called the Needles Eye back into Biblical times to witness, in person, Bible stories taking place and are given a card with a mystery question to solve. After viewing the story, they are transported back to London to work on the mystery using the Bible. Bible scriptures are given and the solutions are very interesting. They solve 10 mysteries and finally find out who has given them the cards with the mystery to solve.

I enjoyed the stories and found the solution very interesting and they make you feel like you are there solving the mystery with them. Questions given at the end of the book can be used as a Bible study.
