52 Scripture Questions Every Believer Should Answer

By O. S. Hawkins

Out of hundreds of questions in scripture, the author takes 52 questions that are critical for Christians to know the answers. These questions are not what you would get in a trivia game, but are questions that will show you God’s will in our lives. O. S. Hawkins take you through the Bible showing questions that are asked by people of the Bible and are also asked by God. Hawkins gives a detailed explanation of the questions, how we can learn from these questions. At the end of each section, he gives Q & A, a review of the question and a short answer. The questions and answers will cause you to stop and think about your life with Christ. The book is set up as 52 chapters or sections so you can read as fast or as slow as you want. Do a section a week taking time to meditate on what you read. As a group Bible study, you can use the book for a whole year and enjoy a great study.

Miracle in a dry season

MIRACLE IN A DRY SEASON

A novel by Sarah Loudin Thomas

A heartfelt story-taking place in mid-1950’s in a small West Virginia town. A young girl and her daughter move in with her aunt and uncle who own the local general store. Rumors start in this small town and bring out a lot of bad feelings. The main character, a young woodworker tries his best to help the young girl even though he has his own problems with his sick dad and a local preacher. To add to the problems the area is hit hard by a drought. The story is well written and details of the characters and the 50’s timeline make you feel you are there and know the people. The author added a Bible based background and used scripture verses in the story.

The story shows how people can make mistakes in life and can be forgiven, how a forgiving heart and a strong faith is needed in life. The story also shows how people can join together in times of trouble and help each other. This is a love story, a story of forgiveness and a story of cruelty. I found the book very easy reading and the storyline kept my interest through the book.

Quick-Start Guide to the Bible

THE QUICK-START GUIDE TO THE WHOLE BIBLE

Understanding the Big Picture Book-by-Book

By Dr. William H. Marty and Dr. Boyd Seevers

I have read and seen many guides to the Bible and have enjoyed this one very much. The authors do an expanded summary of each book, not just a couple of paragraphs. The book is about 300 pages long. They explain who wrote the book, what each book means and give highlights of each book in an easy to understand text. This book will give you a basic understanding of each book and will help you when you read the Bible. It gives you a lot more information than the short summaries that are included in most Bibles. I would suggest keeping the guide handy as you read through the Bible, it can be a very helpful reference book. The authors seem to have put a lot of effort and study into what information they have supplied and have written it in a way that everyone will be able to understand the basics of the Bible.

Understanding Revelation

THE BOOK OF REVELATION MADE CLEAR

By Tim LaHaye &Timothy E. Parker

The authors make the book of Revelation easy to understand. In my opinion, they do an outstanding job to give all readers a easy to understand meaning of what Revelation is about and the importance of the prophecy. They start each section with three multiple-choice questions about each verse or verses. They take you through Revelation verse by verse revealing the Biblical meaning of each verse or a group of verses, give backgrounds on the subject and culture of the time. Where needed they quote other scriptures to back up different points. At the end of each section, you are given the correct answers to the questions asked at the beginning of the section. The complete book of Revelation is divided into 77 sections, making it easy to understand and does not rush you through the study.

I would recommend this book to new readers and to those who have read Revelation, to get an understanding of the prophecies, something we all need. The book is not an in depth study, but one that all Christians need to take to heart about the end times. Revelation is the last book of the Bible and Jesus wants us to know and understand what is going to take place.
