God’s story

SO, WHAT’S YOUR POINT

Realigning Our Story with the Only One That Matters

By Fran Sciacca

God’s story has sometimes gotten misunderstood and away from the true story, and we need to be reminded of the true story. In his book, Fran Sciacca will layout God’s story and will show areas that are far from the truth. He shares stories from life and scripture to prove his point. He is a Bible teacher, and uses his teaching skills to educate the reader about the true story.

He asks the question, "Are you finding your place in God’s story or trying to squeeze him into your own?". Fran will not make his readers comfortable, but he needs to be heard just as Jeremiah needed to be heard in the Old Testament.

The writing is easy to understand and packed with needed information for us to understand how God’s story has gotten out of control.

When you hurt

EYE OF THE STORM

Where is God when life hurts?

By Alexander Kumpt

Do you blame God when things go wrong? This book is for you, you will receive a blessing in how to handle the hurts in your life. Alexander shares stories and scripture verses on how God’s is working in our life and that the hurts are not a form of punishment but come from choices that you make. When we make a choice, not all our choices are the best, to do things in life we will have to live with the results of that choice. Human nature is to blame someone and that someone is God.

The writing is easy to understand and offers support for those times you are hurting and going through a rough time in life. The book is not long, just 10 chapters; the tenth chapter offers discussion questions on the other nine. I think these questions are great and can help with getting a group to study the book.

Alexander offers a book that is a real help with your hard times, not a replacement for the Bible. God centered and easy to read; you will want to read it over again and tell others about the help the book offers.

Igniting the Signal Fire for the Spiritually Dissatisfied

By Roy Moron

The author shares a history of the church growth and many things that have affected this growth. He shares many things that are going on in churches today and ideas on how some are good and some are bad. He offers suggestions to change many, by using scripture verses and his experience of church planting. Many of the ideas maybe considered controversial by some, but should be looked at with a open mind. Good or bad, the ideas are not suggested to make them right or the only way to change. He offers them as an option, even though he may thing they are the right way, he knows that all situations are different and only is suggesting an alternate way to handle these problems.

In my opinion, there is a lot of information offered and I know that situations are different in each church, but I think this book has some ideas that are worth examination and considering improving our churches. They are presented in a factual way and are easy to understand the point being shared. You may find, as you read, agreeing and even getting upset at his suggests because of your beliefs and what you have been taught about the church. Keep an open mind and try to understand the author’s explanations of why changes need take place for the growth of the church.
