IF I KNEW THEN WHAT I KNOW NOW

Time to stop recycling the same old mistakes, Life Lessons to Last More Than a Lifetime

By Ruby Hillsman

Ruby shares a collection of stories that people shared with her and things that happen to her. At the end of each story, she shares what she learned from them. Many stories are sad, some are happy and include stories that we all can associate with and understand. By being a listener, she has learned from her own mistakes and from others. She is making a point that if we learn to listen to other people’s stories we can learn from the mistakes they made and learn from our own mistakes, life can be better and we will not make the same mistakes over again.

The stories she shares are all from life situations and most likely you may be able to relate to some of them from your own experience. The book is well written and enjoyable to read. For the young reader who may never have the opportunity to hear these stories, to the older reader who may have heard simpler versions of them, there something from all to learn and apply to their life.

Ruby encountered a large variety of people throughout her life. She met people at work, she was a nurse, people she met at gatherings and everywhere she went. Her goal in writing this book is to share these stories and things learned from those around us.

LIFE IS _________. FORTY-DAY EXPERIENCE

A Devotional Journey Through God’s Illogical Love.

By Judah Smith

A short 40-day devotional, but with a strong message. There is a scripture reading each day, a interesting story and at the end of each devotion a some questions for you to think about. This is a new book in the Life is ______ series, Judah also wrote the bestselling series Jesus is________. He uses his own life experiences and shares stories to points out how God loves us and cares about us. He enhances the stories by adding one humor to them. A young pastor, with a wife and kids, has a very strong love of God. His stories are easy to understand and are very down to earth.

The author divides the book into four sections,

Life is to be loved and to love.
Life is to trust God in every moment.
Life is to be at peace with God and yourself.
Life is to enjoy God.

I have read and reviewed both series, and found them enjoyable and a spiritual uplifting in all his writing and would recommend them all.

The books format makes it easy to use for discussion sessions and small Bible studies groups.

REVIVE! THE ORACLES OF GOD

The Three Constants of the Christian Faith

By Ozakieoniso Charlie

The three constants of the Christian Faith are;

The Word of God
Prayer
Selfless Service

The author explains each of these in a separate chapter using scripture with his own explanation. Ozakieoniso defines each oracle and gives a detailed description of each. At the end of the book he shares a 21 day prayer project. The author shares an outline of a method and suggestions that can be used in the prayer project.

The author used a large amount of scripture, sometimes using almost whole chapters to explain the point or description of the oracle. Ozakieoniso Charlie has a desire for spiritual growth and is against lukewarmness in the body of Christ. He shares his beliefs and a strong convection of faith in Christ. Thus is a book of information and helps to understand and using God’s oracles for an increased faith.

THE GOD YOU THOUGHT YOU KNEW

Exposing the 10 Biggest Myths About Christianity

By Alex McFarland

Do we really know God or do we know only what we learned from others. The true God of the Bible may not be the God we know. This book definitely will get you to thinking about what is the truth. The author explains there is a different between the God we know and the God of the Bible and that we are led to believe only half-truths. Alex uses scripture to expand the real God of the Bible. There have been many false teachings for centuries and unless you read the Bible and learn for yourself the truth, you may be led in the wrong direction.

McFarland wants to set things straight as to what we know about Christianity. Christianity is not always the way "Christians" act and talk. A real "Christian" is described in the Bible as a true follow of Christ. The information described in this book is well worth studying and for us to see what is true and what is not. A quote from the back cover says, "Maybe we’ve been wrong about God all this time". In this day of information, maybe it is time we find the truth and start living the truth. In my opinion, this book is a good place to start and along with the Bible, we will find the truth about God and Christianity.
